COME AND WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST

SMALL IN AGE YET GREAT IN HISTORY

As it is written, "Man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart" (I Sam. 16:7), these days, people who can not discern the state of spiritual growth of a person, attempt to gauge men of God by their appearance and age and say "Oh! They are just kids who are talking out of their juvenile zeal and enthusiasm." Thus they slight the young ministers of God and brush aside their words. We can explain the history, the divine history to people who hold such opinion.

Joseph:

He was a saint who ran away from sin saying, "How can I sin against God?" He received visions of God when he was seventeen (Gen. 37:2,5). God was with Joseph and made him wise by granting him wisdom of interpreting dreams. At the age of thirty, Joseph was made the ruler of the whole kingdom of Egypt and it was decreed that throughout the land of Egypt, none could lift his hand or foot without his permission. Joseph was second only to Pharaoh in that land. The reason that he was lifted so high at that tender age was that he was blessed with the Spirit of God, was discerning, wise and holy (Gen. 38-39, 41-44).

David:

He was a man about whom God Himself testified, "A man of my own heart; He will do everything I want him to do" said our God. When David was a young lad God sent Samuel to anoint him to rule over Israel (I Sam. 16:11-13). Accordingly, David became king after the death of Saul. David was only thirty years old when he became the king (II Sam. 5:4). His spiritual experience within those thirty years was abundant.

Jeremiah:

The Lord told Jeremiah, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you a prophet to the nation". Jeremiah replied, "Ah! Sovereign Lord, I do not know how to speak. I am only a child". Still God said, "Do not say 'I am only a child'. Now I appoint you over nations and kingdom to uproot and tear down to destroy and overthrow to build and to plant (Jer. 1:5-10). In this way, even when he was a small boy, Jeremiah was made great by God.

Our Lord Jesus Christ:

Our Lord Jesus Christ, who is greater than Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Solomon and greater than everybody, began His ministry at the age of thirty after He received baptism and the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:23).

Joash, the king of Judah was seven years old when he became king. Since he was born in a royal family and a prince, he became a king (II Chron. 22:11-12, 24:1). This is not remarkable since for such people, honor and power comes naturally. However great persons who were young in age, such as Joseph, David, Jeremiah, Jesus Christ, John the Baptist and several others were appointed, authorized and elevated by God. Don't listen to old people who question you as to why you should be pious at this young age. "It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young" (Lamen. 3:27). "Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king" (Eccl. 4:13).

Solid food is for the mature who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil (Heb. 5:14).
