THE NEW JERUSALEM CHURCH

COME AND WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST

BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD

Some hold on to this verse and think in this way: "I believe in Jesus and have received Him. Therefore I am a child of God". They are firm in their view without understanding the true meaning of 'believing' and 'receiving'. "He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him" (did not believe in Him) (John 1:11). Those who receive Him become children of God.

Here we see a group of people who received Him and another who did not receive Him. They did not receive the witness of John, who was sent by God, on the Light which enlightened every man (John 1:6-8). They did not accept that the life which gave light to man was within Him (John 1:4-5). They did not accept that He was God (John 1:1-3). Whoever receives and believes the witness of John that Jesus is God and the life which gives light is in Him, gets the right to become children of God.

Like many who claim today that they are disciples and children of Jesus Christ, the Jews also used to call themselves disciples of Moses (John 9:28). Rejecting their claim, Jesus said, "You did not believe Moses. Had you believed Moses, you would have also believed Me for He wrote about Me. But you do not believe his writings!" (John 5:46-47).

Accordingly, anyone who claims to believe Jesus should believe His words. The Lord told Moses, "I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words which He speaks in My name, I will require it of Him" (Deut. 18:18-19).

Therefore He who claims to believe Moses, should believe and obey these words of Moses. If he is obedient, he should have received Jesus Christ, for only then, it would mean that he believes in Moses.

These days, many assert that Jesus Christ is not God but only one of the sons of God and that He too is a creation but not the creator and that He is considered Son of God only because of His resurrection etc. They are deceivers and antichrists ().

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1)(NKJV). And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14)(NKJV). God was manifested in flesh (I Tim. 3:16) (NKJV). He is the image of the invisible God the firstborn over all creations (Col. 1:15) (NKJV). A group of people refer this verse and deceive that He was the first among the creation. In the next verse it is clearly explained why He is known as the firstborn over all creation. "For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are in earth....All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things" (Col. 1:16-17) (NKJV). "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made" (John 1:13) (NKJV).

When all created things were created by Him, how could He be called a creation? Who else but God could be the One who was before all things? Jesus Christ is God. The Jews did not believe it and did not receive Jesus Christ as God. To obtain the right to become a child of God, one should believe that He is God and allow oneself to be ruled by God just as a woman accepts a man as her husband through wedding.

Jesus Christ - the Light:

In the beginning, when man neglected the word of God, he lost his life and was enveloped by the darkness of death. When the word of God enters into a man, he receives life (Ezek. 37:10). "He whom God has sent speaks the words of God" (John 3:34). His words are Spirit and they are life. And that word which is the Spirit, gives life to man (John 6:63). "The darkness shall cover the earth and the deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you.... The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising" (Isa. 60:2-3).

Many people shall come to the house of the God of Jacob to learn the ways of God and to walk in His paths, since out of Zion goes forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem (Isa. 2:3).

The word of the Lord alone is the light. To become a child of God, one should believe that the life which gives light is in Him (John 1:4). Knowing that through that life we too can receive life, we should receive the words of Him who is the Light. In other words, we should obey Him. The Jews however rejected His words. Witness of John the Baptist: "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe"(John 1:6-7).

John went like a pilot before the Lord , to announce to the people through his work what the Lord was about to do (Luke 1:76-77). What he announced was salvation, in other words, the remission of sins, because obtaining remission of sins was salvation (Luke 1:77). He preached a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins and was baptizing those who confessed their sins to him (Mark 1:4-5).

Jesus revealed Himself to the world and had been baptizing people as John did (John 3:22). Regarding Him, John witnessed, "He ranks higher than me. I baptize with water so that He is revealed to Israel. However He(Jesus) shall baptize with the Holy Spirit" (John 1:15-36). Those who believed and accepted the witness (doctrine) of John were baptized by him and those who did not accept, rejected the counsel of God to their own ruin (Luke 7:29-30). To become a child of God, in accordance with the witness of John the Baptist, one should be baptized for the remission of sins and should receive the Holy Spirit as promised by God.

All of you who believe in His name and are willing to receive Him, should believe that Jesus is your God and accept Him as your God. Believing that there is life in His graceful words, submit yourselves to them. Accept the witness of John about Him and receive baptism and the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 3:11). God will authorize you to become His child.

You will be known as born of God (John 1:13).

EDITORIAL

Children of God should worship God. Man has been created and shaped only to worship and glorify God (Isa. 43:7). Whether a person is cultured or a savage living in a forest, that person possesses a natural instinct to worship God. He worships either a dead man or stone or soul or tree or beast or bird or natural scenes as God and bows his knee before them. Yes, he worships God or someone other than God or something which he likes. We Christians should bow before God and worship Him. God saves or liberates a person only to worship Him (Ex. 8:1). Some people don't worship God and therefore they don't receive the blessings of God. Such people are trapped in various kinds of sins and vile passions.

You should worship God, else you may worship false gods which will not save you. They will not save you from sin, curse, danger, disease, wicked people or hell (1Sam. 12:21-22). If you worship God, He will be glorified and you will be made perfect. He who worships the Creator will become like Him. His needs will be fulfilled. He will have peace.

Worship God unceasingly (Dan. 6:16).
